Okay- as I said a while ago, the weather dictates everything
here in
Patagonia. I’m told that Ruta 40 is
going to be closed for at least three weeks.....that’s to all vehicles. Not
even buses or tractors will travel the road!
The cycle route through the lake district was guaranteed to
be one of the most interesting parts of the journey, and it isn’t going to
happen.
I had a choice to go back to Puerto Natales, and get a ferry
to Bariloche or to go back across to the East coast and up Ruta 30. Either way,
it’s an additional 650 km!As the ferry
charges a cool $350 dollars, the decision was easy.... down to Rio Gallegos,
which is more or less where I was two weeks ago!
