Well, my night of sleep and contemplation turned into a
night of intense water consumption. Now I know what you are thinking! Two
litres of water consumed after a dog bite = rabies!!!! No, just a very salty
bit of lamb the night before!! Tasty, but salty!
Got up to a swollen and throbbing ankle and a desire for
coffee and toast with dulce con leche!
After breakfast, I went back to hospital to get dressing
seen to and to check that the ankle was ok, as it didn’t seem willing to move.
Yes, definitely ok, according to doctor but not possible to cycle! Now this was
a real pity, because I was praying for great weather for my first crossing of
the
Andes, and today, that’s what I got. It
was bright sunshine and not a breath of wind. Sure it was cold, and there was a
bit of ice around, but that would melt quickly in the heat of the sun! The
forecast for the next few days wasn’t good. So resting my leg was all that I
could do. Huge disappointment! You could almost guarantee that I’d have a great
view of
Patagonia on both the Argentinian and
the Chilean side.
So I’m inches from the border, but may as well be a thousand
miles away!
Well, I’ll sign out now, a little less bitter, but still
wishing SA dogs the most horrible of deaths by a raging canine virus!
